This site is about more than just building, "things".
If I were to ask, what is it in life that means the most to you, how would you respond? Well, the reason I ask, is because life is so much more than just getting up in the morning, going to work, coming back home, and then going back to bed that night with the thought that you have to do it all over again tomorrow.
Life can be full of anticipation, passion, new challenges, and hopefully finding that place where you can honestly say, "I can't wait for tomorrow!"
And what is a true craftsman?
Craftsman: 1. a professional whose work is consistently of high quality.
They’re a person who can't leave well enough alone, someone who holds themselves to a higher standard. It’s someone who can't just, "turn it off."
Is that you? Are you always thinking "there must be a better way to do...”?
Maybe you’re the kind of person who isn't satisfied with the way you did, "that last job," and next time you’re going to do it better. Well, you're not alone. Many of us obsess over finding a better way of doing whatever it is we do. Often, we’ll even will tackle something way outside our comfort zone, even if it’s just to see that we can.
And we don't like to lose!
Do you ever find yourself staying up past your bedtime, or waking up in the middle of the night pondering a problem? There’s no doubt—at least in your mind—that you’ll figure it out if you just give it a little more thought. Most people would have said, "give it rest—It's good enough", but not you!
Well, that’s because it’s personal!
I spoke with a welder a while back who was helping me on a project, and he said, "I always tell myself, that my next weld will be better than the last one."
Inspecting his work, I was truly amazed, because his welds were a work of art, and I couldn't imagine his next one being even a little better, but that's what I'm talking about.
